But what about tax cuts?

In my last post, I asked if we could trust the Conservatives to deliver us from the burden of heavy taxation. Today, one of the party's policy review groups makes an 'unambiguous commitment' to an increase in spending on public services.

I suppose I have my answer right there.

Will the shadow Cabinet endorse this proposal? Fingers crossed good economic sense will prevail.

These people are completely stupid as well as spineless. Just as the public starts to wake up to the fact that spending does not equal good services, we commit ourselves to more waste.

Exactly. Just as the public are discovering (from bitter experience no less) that more spending does not equal better services, one would have thought that this was the best time to put the case for tax cuts.

Instead, what do we have? The Conservatives spectacularly failing to catch the mood of the moment and repeating those tired mantras that have now been disproved and discredited all over the place.

I despair.
